A Little Hockey….

April 30, 2010

Happy Friday! So, last night I went to Josh’s (my hubby) hockey game. It was his first of the season… He has been subbing for a team that our neighbor plays on, and decided to join the team for the summer. He played in High School… and LOVES it!

Thought I would share a few pics… nothing amazing… just a little life snippet… His game didn’t start until 9:45…. so needless to say we got home pretty late! I have to be honest and say that it took me the entire first period to figure out which guy was Josh!!! He didn’t know what color jersey he would be wearing….and he told me he had black shorts and black socks. Well, the entire team had black shorts and black socks… So, I used my telephoto lens as binoculars and starting eliminating players that weren’t my husband. Seriously… with all of their bulky equipment and face masks, it is really hard to tell!!!

But I figured it out because this guy was a good player…. and he had yellow laces in his skates (Go Steelers!). I know you think I am biased…. but he really was the best player on his team. It appears that he is playing alone, but there were not actually bleachers so there were not a lot of options of places to watch the game… so I wasn’t in a very good spot… Didn’t get very much action in front of me…

Needless to say… it was fun and even though is team lost he had a blast!

Not sure what he is doing…. looks like he is licking his stick…. I zoomed in in photoshop… and can confirm that he is not. :)

Annoyed to be in the penalty box….

And I was reading the ice rink rules…. most of them made sense… but rule #3 totally threw me off. What on earth does that mean???

Have an amazing weekend… lots of fun sessions to come on the blog!

Blessings

Amie + Nathan | Married!

April 29, 2010

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph my first wedding at the Baltimore Zoo! If you are like me you might not even know that you could have a wedding at the zoo. :) The ceremony was held outside at one of the pavilions (by the water-soooo pretty), and the reception was held in the Mansion House. The weather was perfect and it was a beautiful wedding! You might remember Amie and Nathan from their engagement session a few weeks ago. To view it click here.  Their engagement session was awesome.. I just love their style… and the wedding details were amazing as well!

Amie and Nathan had actually planned to get married next month, but moved their date up because her dad is sick. I am amazed at the strength of their family. It was such a blessing to watch Amie and her dad together… I can’t tell you how many times I teared up throughout the evening just watching them together. What a special Father Daughter Dance. And, watching Amie’s parents together was such a testimony of God’s goodness as well. What strength it must take to go through such a hard time together and still have such hope and joy. I feel so blessed to have been a part of such a significant day in Amie and Nathan and their families lives.

So, with that said…. there were some awesome vendors that made this day special!

Amie Decker, who you know I love did the hair and makeup with her team! Gorgeous!

The venue was of course the Baltimore Zoo. If you are interested in getting married there, your contact would be Jane. She is fabulous.

Catering was done by Bear Bros. Catering Company.

Frank with Friendly Entertainment did an awesome job as the evenings DJ.

The cake was done by The Cake Fairy. It looked AMAZING!

Rental Company: ABC Party and Tent Rental

The wedding officiant was Mike Rallo… and he did an excellent job for the service… and has known Amie for years!

The Flowers were taken care of by Flowers by Lana… (the link is attached to her email)

And lastly, the awesome car you see at the end of the post is from Her Majesty’s Service.

I think that covers it for the vendors…. everyone involved did such an amazing job!

And now on to the photos… I blogged some of my favorites from the day, and also posted a slideshow below that shares the day with you. Their gallery will be ready shortly on the client page.

To view their slideshow, click here:

On with the photos! Amie got ready at her place in Canton…

Amie and Nathan choose to see eachother before the wedding ceremony for a “First Glance.” (Which I LOVE, LOVE and totally suggest!) Her dad met her at the car, and walked her to the place that Nathan would see her for the first time…

We took some photos at the Conservatory before heading over to the Zoo. If you have never been there…. you should! It is absolutely gorgeous, and I LOVE shooting there!

These photos were taken near the Pavilion where they had their ceremony… Just to give you an idea of what a gorgeous place the Zoo is. I think I had pictured a wedding in the zoo… where there would be cages and animals, etc…. That was not the case at all! It is over near Druid Hill Park, so there is beautiful scenery everywhere!

And just so you get a glance of the ceremony site at the Pavilion…

Such a sweet dance….

I had to post this dancing photograph… It is not every day that a guy on the dance floor does a split right in front of you. Impressive!

Rather than doing a sparkler exit at the zoo, Amie and Nathan did a sparkler entrance at Little Havanna instead. Super fun!!

Megan + Jon | Engaged!

April 27, 2010

Last week I photographed Megan and Jon for their engagement….. We went to Federal Hill, and spent most of the time around Federal Hill Park….

Megan and Jon are super cute, and I can’t wait until their wedding this May! I love the way Jon makes Megan smile…

My favorite kind of light…. Love the gorgeous light of early evening….

I LOVED the photos of Jon giving Megan a piggy back ride. So fun! Megan and Jon are super playful together…and it made for some really cute shots!

This photo makes me want to be at the park with my hubby…. like, right now! Seriously nothing better than a quiet day at the park to enjoy perfect company, spring weather, a gentle breeze,  birds chirping…. PERFECTION.

I can’t wait to capture this expression of Megan in her wedding dress!!!! So elegant and classy with a touch of sass… G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!

And a little Baltimore tribute…. outside of the American Visionary Museum. :) One of my all time favorite places!

Thanks Jon and Megan! I can’t wait until your big day!
