Lauren + Brian | Engaged!

July 13, 2010

Meet Lauren and Brian. They are just the cutest!!!! Lauren had contacted me quite a long time ago because I am shooting one of her sorority sisters weddings this fall…. (If you remember Emmie and Carl in Annapolis). She wasn’t yet engaged, but knew that it was coming at some point in time….

So, months later, I got an email from Brian saying that he was planning his surprise proposal, and that he wanted to book a session for engagement photos as a surprise to her! How cute!

So, the week before their session, they took a trip to California, and he proposed while out in Cali. He told her the day before their session so that she could pick her outfits…. Just love it! What a sweet surprise.

And, it was so much fun to watch them together. Brian is in the military and they do not see each other very often at all… so there was such a sweetness to their relationship… and the way that they looked at each other. I was LOVING it!

We headed to Havre de Grace for their session, which is most likely where they will be getting married. I have to say, I had never ventured around Havre de Grace before, but it is such a cute town! Josh and I might have to plan a little weekend getaway there before the baby comes!

They were certainly troopers for their session. We shot on one of the days that it was over 100 degrees… but didn’t have much of a choice since Brian was only in town for a few days…

Gorgeous couple. Gorgeous light.

This is the dress that Lauren wore when Brian proposed to her…

This is one of my favorites of the day…

Thanks Lauren and Brian! Had a great time…. and I hope that you enjoyed your short amount of time together…

Erica + Paul | Married!

July 11, 2010

I can hardly believe that June has already come and gone. It really seems like yesterday that I was in San Francisco for Erica and Paul’s Engagement session. You can view their engagement session by clicking here. I have to say… working with Erica and Paul has been such a wonderful experience. They are incredibly sweet…. they are some of the most genuine people that I have met. They have been so accommodating and  thoughtful throughout the entire process of working with them.

We started with getting ready photos up in Hunt Valley. Remember Melissa? She did Erica’s makeup. :)  And Erica looked stunning!

Before all of the photos, just thought I would mention some of the vendors who did a great job to make Paul and Erica’s day so special.

Venue: Grey Rock Mansion

Catering: Simply Elegant (Grey Rock Mansion)

Florist for Erica’s Bouquet: Crimson and Clover Floral Designs

Photobooth: Partybooth

Cake: Artistic Desserts

DJ: DZ Entertainment

Erica and Chester….

Some details from the day. Loved Erica’s Priscilla of Boston dress…  It was super romantic and summery. Perfect for a June wedding. And her jewelry was Ahhh-mazing!

Erica and Paul saw eachother before the ceremony. I just love, love, love First Glance! There are so many reasons why I love it as a photographer, but I also did it as a bride and loved it as well…. Definitely plan to blog about the benefits!

This is one of my favorites of the day! Love it!

Erica had some fabulous details! Loved the colors and all the little touches she added to make their day so special.

A quick pic of them in the photobooth! They used pics from the photobooth for their guest book. It is such a cute idea!

Erica carried a photo of each of her parents in the locket on her bouquet.

This I love, because I was just saying that for Jon and Megan’s wedding, I was kind of jealous that we don’t do the Horah… Now Erica and Paul didn’t actually do the Horah… but their friends did lift them on on their chairs. So fun!

Erica and Paul were so fun to watch. They were so cute and so excited to be married!  This photo sums it all up.

If you would like to see more photos from the day, you can click here to view the slideshow.

Erica and Paul, thank you for being such incredible clients. I hope that you had an AMAZING time in Italy!!!

Kathleen + Paul | Engaged!

July 9, 2010

So last week I headed up to Philly for an engagement session…. and to meet Kathleen and Paul for the first time. :)  They are getting married this fall in New Jersey, and I actually hadn’t met them prior to their session…. but I have to say, they are awesome! And we (I think I can speak for us all…..) had a great time walking around the area of Philly that they frequent. Such a cute little place! I am not sure what the exact area that we were walking around is called, but it was definitely a cute area!

It depends on who you ask, but Paul says that their first date was when Kathleen stayed at his house for a sleepover with his sister and they stayed up all night talking…

Kathleen says they went to Ralph’s Italian Restaurant.

So….. whichever it is, it doesn’t really matter too much because it looks like it worked out in the end!

I know I always say this, but I just love watching how couples look at eachother. Kathleen smiled and laughed the entire time… and Paul did the same. No wonder they are a good match!

One of the things that Paul loves about her is that he says she makes all of his worries disappear. Isn’t that cute?! Like a line from a movie cute?! Come on Paul, you can’t say cute things like that around an emotional pregnant woman, because you know what that means…. A flood of tears!!!! :)

Love when clients trust me… I think that they complied to everything that I suggested…. and they didn’t even question me. Not once!

Nothing like ice cream on a hot day…

Honey’s Sit n Eat is one of their favorite places to grab a bite. It was an incredibly cute and so I hear an incredibly delicious place to eat!

Yummy Light….

I think this is adorable.

Pure. Joy.

Thank you Kathleen and Paul for an awesome session! I can’t wait until the wedding day!!!

A morsel of eye candy….

July 6, 2010

The next wedding that I have to share with you is Erica and Paul who were married at the Grey Rock…. They are truly an amazing couple… and it was an amazing wedding! I am still working through the big blog post for them…. and took the long weekend off to enjoy with hubby…so needless to say, I didn’t finish the post, but didn’t want to leave you totally hanging. :)  Here is one of my favorites….

Right now they are honeymooning in Italy!!! Super jealous!

Come back to see their wedding details…. (you don’t want to miss them) and some cute recent engagement sessions!

Meet Melissa….

July 1, 2010

Meet Melissa!

I met Melissa last January because she did the hair and makeup for wedding that I shot… and did a phenominal job! Thought I would share some info on her as she recently opened her own little studio within a Salon in Parkville. Her space within the salon is located at: Changes Hair and Body, 2306 E Joppa Road, Parkville, MD 21234

If you are looking for a new place to get your hair done, you definitely have to check her out! Call 410.668.4682

She not only works out of her space, but will travel to clients for hair and makeup for weddings.

And here is a little bit about Melissa and her business……

1. How long have you been in business?

I have been a licensed makeup artist for 12 years and a hair stylist for about 6 years.

2. How did you get interested in hair/makeup?

My mom is a hairstylist so I’ve been around the business all of my life. I first developed a passion for doing makeup because I have some skin issues that I wanted to be able to cover up naturally. Once I learned to do that I knew I could help other people as well. It’s amazing how much better you can make someone feel about themselves just with a little bit of makeup. Then I got accepted to Carver for Cosmetology, but didn’t end up going because I didn’t want to leave my twin sister for high school so I put it off. After graduating from college and working for two years, I still couldn’t let go of that dream so I quit my job and went to hair school and the rest is history:)

3. Tell us a little bit about your process. What should I expect if I work with you for my wedding?

I like to be a calming part of a bride’s day. Once she and her bridal party are sitting in my chair the rest of the details are usually taken care of so I want them to be able to just relax and enjoy that moment. We have a trial so there are no worries about what we’re going to do the day of, but with that being said, if there are changes to be made that is no problem either. I just want the bride to be happy. That is my ultimate goal.

4. Where do you find your inspiration/creativity?

I love going through all of the bridal magazines and even watching the Oscars and other celebrity events. I also just like to come up with something new together with my brides. It’s generally a collaboration of their ideas with mine.

5. Any advice for brides or a client planning an event?

Try to enjoy it and not get too stressed out. Have fun with it. Having been a bride just last year, I know how quickly the day goes by. I see so many brides get caught up with little details and the day of that stuff really doesn’t matter very much.

6. What sets you apart from other hair/makeup artists in our industry?

What sets me apart is my desire for the relationship with my brides. I want them to feel very comfortable with me and to enjoy our time together. I feel it is a very special thing to be asked to be a part of the most important day in someone’s life and I take that seriously. It’s not just about a paycheck for me. I’ve developed friendships with lots of my brides.

7. What do you love most about your job?

I love working with people. I love having a part in making them feel confident and beautiful for their special day.

So, meet Melissa….

And here are some photos of her space…
