Faith + Rob | TTD

June 21, 2011

Faith and Rob just got married…. check out their unique wedding post here. ;)  We just met for their After Session…. and they rocked it…. For a number of reasons:

1. It was about 98 degrees… with the heat  index at about 105. Canceling or rescheduling was not even on the radar

2. They brought someone along (her brother) to help with her train (b/c it is big, heavy, and has multiple layers)

3. Said person also had a cooler of beverages to keep them hydrated

4. And also towels to wipe sweat, etc.

5. She got her makeup done by Amie Decker Beauty

6. Her dress was a magnet for bugs, including grasshopper like things, and spiders… and even with this, she sat in any area I asked her to… including long grass up to her waist

7. They play the role of their look like Champs…. for real… thought I might have been in England for a few minutes…

8. They never hesitate to do anything I suggest…

9. They said they want me to take family photos when they have kids…. yay! Love being a part of clients growing families! (they are not pregnant…. just talk of future)  :)

10. They are the nicest people EVER.

See what I mean? They totally play the part.  :)  This is completely unprompted.

Best light of the day…

Thank you Faith and Rob for being such great clients!

Caroline + Kyle | Engaged!

June 19, 2011

Oh Facebook…. you are a pretty amazing tool…I love you for lots of reasons… although there are a few things I don’t love….I don’t love that you can be a black hole, and when I intend to spend 5 minutes I spend 20…that you change privacy settings without really giving a heads up….and that you allow people to tag really awful or embarrassing photos of me…

But I love that you allow me to keep up with friends and family that I don’t live near, you are a great tool for my business, and I LOVE that you help folks find LOVE. ;)

Caroline and Kyle met through a law school Facebook group that was set up for entering students. They chatted occasionally throughout the summer, and then met outside the parking garage the first day of orientation… and the rest is history!

Loved spending the evening with them in downtown Annapolis. And, Caroline got her makeup done by the fabulous Amie Decker, of Amie Decker Beauty. Btw… it looks AWESOME when folks get makeup done for sessions…and it is a really great time to do your trial for your wedding as well!

The best light of the day….

Such a cute little house! We chatted about our perfect little Annapolis dream homes… Caroline and Kyle have actually been working REALLY hard… like every spare second hard, to fix up his house. It sounds like they have been working nonstop… but I am sure that it looks amazing!

I may buy the sign on the right for my husband….

We spent the last part of the evening down by the dock… perfect day, perfect temperature… perfect couple.

Love the sunlight in the windows of the building on the right….

When it got dark, we played around a little bit before they went off on their date…

Love this one….

Thank you Caroline and Kyle!!! Had a blast and can’t wait until your wedding this fall!!

Holly + Andy | Married!

June 14, 2011

Andy and Holly have to be some of the sweetest people that I have met…..

They contacted me about shooting their wedding b/c I shot her cousin, Toni’s wedding last June… btw, Toni and Mike are pregnant and are expecting this coming September! She looks FABULOUS. They will be great parents.  :)

Andy and Holly’s engagement session was just up on the blog. You can check it our here.

They are a super laid back couple… and their wedding captured them perfectly…. It was a beautiful country wedding, with perfect details…

Simple, yet beautiful.

They didn’t have a bridal party… instead all of their friends came early to hang out and help them get ready… And, after the ceremony we went on a little walk to grab some photos of the newlyweds…

We took some on the property where they got married (across the street from their house)  :)

And then a few on the church property down the road….

Holly looked so beautiful!

This was taken on the property behind their house… the horse came up to them for a few photos…. and he really wanted to eat Holly’s flowers…  :)

This is one of my favorites…. right in their backyard….

Loved the fireworks!!!  Thought this was an awesome idea….

I know I only posted photos of Holly and Andy, but you can click below to see a slideshow of the day…

Lauren + Brian | Married!

June 7, 2011

I know I say this a lot… but I just LOVE my clients!!! You might remember Lauren and Brian from their sweet engagement session last July. Just a recap… Brian planned to propose while he was home (he is in the military) and he contacted me to schedule an engagement session a few days after the proposal… So, so thoughtful. And, after hearing his best man’s toast at the wedding, it sounds like that is only skimming the surface. His best man said Brian is a “Leader of Men,” and I am not a man of course… but knowing what I know about my husband, I think that to a guy being called a Leader of Men, is one of the highest compliments one can pay…

And there is Lauren… beautiful on the inside and out. She is super sweet, thoughtful, and has AMAZING attention to detail. She wears a smile 100% of the time, and it is no wonder why Brian is head over heels in love with her. I LOVE watching the two of them together. There is a sweetness present that words can not describe.

Another fun thing about Lauren is that she is a sorority sister to Emmie….. whose wedding I shot last October. :)

So on with the photos… Hair and makeup were done by the fabulous Baltimore Bridal Hair and Makeup…

Lauren looked absolutely stunning!

A snippet of their first glance….

They had PERFECT weather! Hello Blue Skies!!!

They had their wedding ceremony at Concord Point Light House.  Such a pretty view. We had actually gone there for their engagement session as well…

Their reception was held at Bulle Rock in Havre De Grace.

Their first dance…

Another awesome vendor of the day was GM Elliott Videography! Check them out! They traveled from New Jersey and did an awesome job. Can’t wait to see the video!

Thanks Lauren and Brian for allowing me to document such an important day in your lives! I hope that you had an AMAZING honeymoon!!!

Some inspiration for your weekend…

June 3, 2011

This is a little bit of a random post, but my heart has been so heavy for a dear friend of mine, and I wanted to share it with you… and ask you to pray and be thankful for the little blessings in life that we so easily take for granted.

So, let me introduce you to my friend, Lauren. We met at Penn State, and sadly she transfered to UVA… but we have stayed in touch along the way. She is holding a pretty little lady named, Charlotte. Charlotte is 4 months old, and the last time that I saw Lauren she shared the news that she was pregnant with her 3rd kiddo (Charlotte). Hard to believe how fast time goes. Lauren came up to visit for the day with her 2 other kiddos and we went to the Baltimore Aquarium before she moved to Arizona with her family.

Anyways, the reason that I am sharing this with you is b/c Lauren has always been an amazing woman, and her strength encourages me so incredibly much. Just typing her story now makes me cry…

Sweet little Charlotte was diagnosed with a rare brain and spinal cord tumor, which the doctors suspect had been growing since she was in the womb. Lauren and her family spent a great deal of time at the hospital… having tests done, waiting on results, etc.

When they received the prognosis… this was Lauren’s message:

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand.” Psalm 139:13-18

We met with another oncologist on Friday. Though we still do not have a name for the tumor, it is terminal. Due to its very nature, that it is indistinguishable from the brain stem and spinal cord, it can be neither removed nor radiated. Chemo is not a viable option, either. Though we had a bit of hope for a different outcome, this prognosis did not surprise us.

I (Lauren) had many good cries throughout our week in the hospital, during which Charlotte would send me looks as if to say, “What is wrong with you, Mama?!” So by God’s grace, I am now JOYFULLY accepting each day with ALL my babies as grace, and I try to just shower Charlotte (and Elyse and Henry, too) with love and laughter. There will be plenty of time to mourn; for now, I will ENJOY my sweet baby and fill her days with gladness! Speaking of days, we really have no idea how long to expect with her. The doctors do not say, as they do not know how fast-growing the tumor is. Besides, none of us is God; He alone has numbered her days and ours. Though when I think of that day approaching, a day all mothers fear and hope never comes to them, I am reminded of a great truth that I had been meditating on during the Lenten season, before we ever learned of the Pretty Lady’s condition. I rediscovered a wonderful, modern hymn (http://www.gettymusic.com/hymns-powerofthecross.aspx) that reminds me that while there will be many dark days in this world, the darkest day of all (“Christ on the road to Calvary”) is already passed. And dark as it was, it was followed by a gloriously bright, “Resurrection Sunday”! So I’ve been focusing on the truth of the resurrection of the dead. “For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead [!]” I Corinthians 15:16-20. “Death is crushed to death.” Fatal tumors do not have the final say – HOORAY!

We still need and appreciate all your prayers.

Because He really HAS sent the Comforter,
Lauren

P.S. If you live here in southern Arizona with us, please be sensitive when speaking in front of our children. They know that Charlotte has been in the hospital and goes to see many doctors, that she is not feeling well and “has bad stuff growing inside of her.” But we do not want to burden them unnecessarily with thoughts of her death. We will prepare them when her decline becomes obvious.

I just had to share her story because I can’t even imagine going through what her family is going through… and I just don’t know if I could be that strong.

Lauren has inspired and encouraged me so much. I am so thankful for Ainsley, and that she is a healthy baby. Reading her email makes me realize I need to be thankful everyday… for the little things, and to live each moment like its my last.. and to never give up hope for a miracle.
