I am excited to share my first official Pittsburgh Engagement Session! Yay!

Lindsey and Matt are engaged and are getting married this coming August…. and… I CAN’T WAIT! Totally love them and am so glad to be working with them. Their ceremony is at Shadyside Presbyterian Church and the Reception is at Soldiers and Sailors.

Lindsey was recommended to me by one of my high school friends (thank you Sommer!)… who does my hair, and also Lindsey’s mom’s hair…. You should check her out if you are in the Erie area… She owns SalonB.

And it turns out that Lindsey just happens to be from my home town and went to my high school…. and we both went to Penn State… heck we even took dance lessons at the same studio growing up. Small world… Now Matt….. I just met, but it is no secret why these 2 are perfect for each other. They are so cute together… and I had so much fun… even if we FROZE our butts off!

They wanted to do some pics in Market Square… specifically at night when it was all lit up. So we did! We started late afternoon to catch some of the daylight and then shot into the early evening…

LOVE that he gets this laugh out of her! It’s the best!!!

We went into this cute restaurant called NOLA on the Square. Looked amazing… Lindsey said it’s awesome… so Josh and I must go there! Loved watching them hang out and have a drink… So, so cute! I felt like I was watching some guy pick up a chic at a bar…

Seriously… how cute are they?!?!

I may or may not have convinced them to go Ice Skating at PPG Place….

They were adorable! So, so fun! And they weren’t too bad on skates either… from what I heard it has been quite a long time since they had gone ice skating.

Most of the time girls kick their heel… for pictures sake… but really this is just a reflex that Lindsey must have.  I think she kicked her heel every time that Matt kissed her. Every time.

A little dancing in the street…. Keep in mind, it was about 21 degrees outside, and Lindsey  is wearing high heels in the ice/snow with NO SOCKS!!!

We headed over to the Pennsylvanian for a few quick photos at the end…. She just loves the lit up building at night. Who doesn’t?? That place is Beautiful!!!

I actually just shared their wedding with you, but never shared their engagement session…no particular reason, just lots of travel and the busyness of the holidays… So….better late than never right? This engagement session is near and dear to my heart. Most of you probably don’t know that I am actually a huge golfer….well….was a huge golfer. Played division 2… Was offered a full ride and then transferred to PSU to pursue photography. . I love playing golf but not as my job….  Haven’t played much lately, especially since having a kid, but will hopefully get back into it soon!

Anyways…..all of the golf talk because we started Kathleen and Zach’s engagement session at Fox Hollow Golf Course… It was a blast! Kathleen even let me hit a few balls…and I couldn’t resist.

They changed and we took a few more at the golf course.

Love that Kathleen giggles… A LOT. They are so cute together!!!

And Kathleen being the good sport that she is…. trekked across the field in heels for this one…. and on top of that it was actually really, really cold!!! So in a fancy sleeveless dress and in heels she went!

And then her prince charming carried her back out when we were done. It was incredibly cute!

then we headed to Harbor East to catch a few in the city…  We caught the amazing early evening light. The next few are some of my favorites.

Another cute couple to share with you! Meet Lacey and Matt! They met at Della Roses in White Marsh…. on Halloween…

And they like to go back for a special drink rimmed with Old Bay…. and now I can’t remember what it is called!!!! Anyone? Leave it in the comment section?

So, we started at Della Roses. They opened just for Lacey and Matt…. and we had some fun there before we headed to Fells Point!

So, now that you can see their faces better…  you might actually recognize them from either Erika and Danny’s wedding or Emily and Mike’s wedding! So fun! I always say this… but I love working within the same circles of friends and seeing old clients!

I know it has been awhile since I have blogged…. I have been on the road for the last 3 weeks and although super fun, it has been super busy. The first 2 trips were shooting in the Baltimore area and the last was to Orlando! My sisters, mom, and I went to watch my nephew and niece march in the band at Disney world…. and had a great time together! We had never been on a girl trip together, and it was so much fun. We went to the Magic Kingdom, the Animal Kingdom, and Downtown Disney. Loved seeing it all decorated for Christmas! Ainsley came and LOVED it, although I am sure she won’t remember it…

I tried to blog when at the hotel there, but I wasn’t able to post… the internet connection in our room was really spotty, and I kept getting kicked off…. so apologies for the wait, and check back often this week to see some posts of what has been going on over here!

So the first session I am going to share is Lindsay and Matt’s engagement. They are so adorable!!!! We went to the Towson area for their session and seemed to have perfect timing for the fall leaves! We had not so great timing with the cold and rain, but they were absolute troopers and we kept going…. even though it was freezing cold and we all needed to thaw out by the end.

See how adorable they are?!? They are getting married next October at the Baltimore Museum of Industry and I can’t wait! Such a sweet couple and a cool venue!

So…… Mandi and Danny….

Met them at Angela and Josh’s wedding.  Mandi was a bridesmaid…. and they were just guests at Kristi and Jason’s wedding.  :)

They met at Salisbury University as Freshmen… their dorms were across from one another. However, they didn’t go on their first official date until they lived together in a beach house the summer after graduation with a bunch of friends…. and then she moved to Cali…. and he had to lure her back. It worked! And they will be getting married next July! We walked around Harbor East for a little bit for their session….and then we went to a super fun location that I can’t share with you. I can’t tell you, nor can I share photos… but it was AMAZING!

After the “private” location we headed over to Federal Hill Park to get some photos with their dog Kooper and to catch the beautiful fall leaves!

I met Ellen and Brad at Erin & John’s wedding. They danced like crazy…. I think she kicked me a few times with her amazing moves….  Here is a little action shot…

Seriously…. they are such a fun couple, and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding! I was so excited when Ellen emailed me about shooting their wedding b/c I remembered exactly who they were.  :)

For their engagement session we headed to George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate…. and it was AMAZING!! Such a beautiful place! 

I just have to say…. Ellen looked STUNNING! I believe this was a trial for her wedding makeup (am I right Ellen?)…. It looked great! I was sitting at my computer going through images and my Mother in Law came in and said…. wow, that girl is stunning!  :)

Couldn’t agree more.

And Brad was an absolute trooper. He wasn’t super excited about engagement photos….. but he hung in there, and did a fabulous job.

I will let you look at the photos first before I share who I think he looks like. Turns out he hears it a lot…

Where do I start??? Lots to say for this post, but Dave is getting on a boat… so I also want to be quick so that he can see the post!!!

So here it goes….. about 6 or 7 years ago I was teaching Kindergarten in the Baltimore City Public School System…..and I was sharing something at the faculty meeting…and was crying (b/c I thought I could change the world)  b/c I just wanted to help those kiddos….

And, there was another new girl at my school…. who just happened to be named Meaghan….spelled exactly the same way I spell my name.  She was the first person I met that spelled it the same…. and then it just so happened that she also went to Penn State! So fun! And from there…we talked… and talked…and talked…. and she has turned out to be one of my greatest friends….  She was in my wedding….we went to the Orange Bowl together…. a Cali road trip from San Diego to San Francisco…. then we both got pregnant… had babies…and our little girls play together, and we share mommy advice….and on and on and on…. and I really couldn’t be more grateful for her and her friendship.

So you probably wonder where Dave and Cara come in, yes?

Meg is married to Steve, who is just as amazing, and is a huge part of a lot of my memories with Meg. I just love them and their little girls. They are like family to me. Here is a little post on them: http://meaghanelliott.com/wordpress/2010/06/29/lorelais-first-birthday/

They are from Pittsburgh, Pa… about 20 minutes from our new house here…. (and I so hope her cute little family moves back!)

Steve’s twin is Dave, and so I was so honored and excited when Dave and Cara booked me as their photographer! I had the opportunity to spend time with Dave here and there as he was in town…. and then last fall we all (Cara included) went to the Penn State game at Fed Ex Field, and had such a great time together. Dave and Cara are super fun and sweet and energetic, and I had such a great time with them at their session!  I loved spending time with them and getting to know them, and b/c Meg and Steve are such a huge part of my life, I know that I will get to spend more time with them in the future, long past the wedding….

We did the engagement session in Georgetown…. Dave and Cara had done some hunting for some fun places and found this gem!!!

Love it!

While driving down it was raining and pretty dreary… but as soon as we started shooting the weather was perfect! A little chilly….all the more reason to be cuddly!

This might be my favorite of the day.

Cara and Dave wanted a city session, b/c Cara loves the city! So we just ventured around and found some great places. They are actually getting married in Pittsburgh this coming New Year’s Eve, so they are officially my first Pittsburgh wedding! They are getting married at Heinz Chapel and their reception is at the Station Square Sheraton. So excited!

We stopped for some warm beverages….and a sweet snack. Dave ate his doughnuts before we could even use them for a fun photo. Very similar to something his twin Steve would do…..  :)

I was so excited to finally meet Jeffrey and Kim… we had been in correspondence for quite awhile, but had not yet met. It was so much fun getting to know the two of them during their engagement session.  :) They were incredibly sweet to watch interact. You can tell that they are head over heels for eachother.

And they are friends with Lauren & Brian and Emmie & Carl! So fun!!!

They met at Kim’s best friends house when Kim was still in high school (Jeffrey is a few years older)…Jeffrey is in the Marine Corps so he was not living in MD. They ended up being Facebook friends….which led to Facebook chat, then video chat….then Kim went to see him in North Carolina when he came home, and they had an amazing weekend together… the rest folks is history.  :)

He is still stationed in NC, so they don’t get to see eachother on a daily basis, but try their best to see eachother on the weekends… Their love is sweet.

We did their session at Downs Park in Pasadena. Such a pretty location! I didn’t even know it existed.

So for the entire session I just couldn’t get over how much Kim looks like a friend of mine, Amber. I actually took this from her Facebook profile to show you the resemblance. And her husband happens to be in the Marine Corps. Jeffrey and Amber’s husband don’t look alike…. but don’t Amber and Kim?!

Kim and Jeffrey LOVE playing cards…So they brought a blanket along and played some cards in the grass.

One of her favorite things about Jeffrey besides his red hair and freckles are his dimples!

One of my favorites of the day…. 

On the way down to their session, our MINI started to run funny… and I had a feeling I might not make it home that night….

Well, on the way home the MINI started shutting down on me. It was making crazy sounds, and at first it just had the battery light on, but slowly that turned into 3 more lights on…. the power features locking up… the steering wheel locking up…. and then a red steering wheel light came on, as if to say STOP DRIVING… and since I couldn’t really accelerate or steer, and I had about a 25 minute drive left… I decided to pull over, and then it proceeded to die.  So 3 1/2 hours later I was rescued by a tow truck and a cab… to make my way home.

What does a photographer do in a car stranded on the side of the road for 3 1/2 hours? Play with my camera!  I didn’t want to drain my phone battery….. so I played around and experimented.  :)

And of course… saying goodbye to the MINI…..

The rain came, and came, and came…..

And quite honestly, it looked like it was going to rain any minute…… but Jill and Michael said Go For it! So we did, and  I am soooo glad! I drove into Fells Point where were planned to start our session…watching the clouds thinking it didn’t look good, but literally as soon as we started shooting, the sun came out! It was perfect!!!

One of their first dates was actually on the Baltimore Water Taxi…. so it was only appropriate to grab a few shots in the area….

Jill had some fun little ideas…. Love when clients think outside of the box!

This is my favorite shot of the day… We were just walking along, and found this perfect alley…. love the light… love the color… love how everything frames them!

As I am posting this last photo, I am realizing that you can’t see Jill’s fabulous dress.  :(   It is A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.  She said she got it at Ross. My mother in law has gotten so many cute things from Ross…. I have NEVER even been in Ross….  I think I might just have to venture in one of these days…. Is is like TJ Maxx? Marshalls?

Kelly and Bobby are A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.

I met Kelly at Erika and Danny’s wedding… she was one of Erika’s bridesmaids. I love working with folks that I have met and/or worked with before. And it is always super fun to see previous clients at other weddings… Speaking of which, I thought you might enjoy this one of Danny from the wedding this past weekend. The best man from his wedding got married…  And, I got to see 2 of my previous couples… Danny and Erika, and Megan and Travis! Soooo fun!

And now on to the sweet couple!!! You might remember them from the slideshow if Emily and Mike’s wedding.

Kelly and Bobby met in a class…. in Law School…..at University of Baltimore School of Law….

They are super sweet… super energetic…and super fun!!!!

They are getting married next summer at Herrington on the Bay.

We started their session at Kelly’s house on the water… to catch the sunset on her parents boat. It was absolutely gorgeous!!!

Then we ventured over to the neighbors…. before we lost daylight to grab a few photos on the hammock.

After we finished up at her house we headed to the University of Baltimore to grab some photos in the library… where Kelly and Bobby have spent 95% of their time for the past several years.

Loved this building on the walk to the Law Building…  It is sooo much fun to play with light at night.

They shared a little dance under the tent…. Probably the only time that they danced on campus…

Loved all of the library shots… Had so much fun with these.  Kelly bought a little pencil skirt for the session… Bobby liked it.

Kelly got her inspiration from the movie The Ugly Truth…. She was trying to find her inner librarian and stripper. (Did I get that right Kelly?) I still haven’t seen the movie, and it came highly recommended by them. Since Josh moved, he has our netflix being delivered to Pittsburgh where he is… so when I move there, I’ll put it in the queue.

You know…. b/c sometimes you lay on the floor among the books in the middle of a study break…..

They have spent a lot of time at the library for the past several years “studying”
